We believe that appreciation of the arts begins with accessibility for all and to promote active involvement in cultural education to our community. We perform a concert series four times a year and presented to the public at a charge only enough to cover our expenses. We also perform to smaller audiences at various venues including educational institutions and social halls, featuring soloists, quartets and chamber music. As advocates of the Hampton Roads performing arts community, we feel that nurturing creativity with our volunteer members, the community gains a creative and engaged group of professionals
Students’ involvement – As one of the foremost arts organizations in the Tidewater area, the Chesapeake Bay Wind Ensemble knows that it is their responsibility to help shape the future of young people. An important part of our mission is to encourage music education and strengthen ties within the community. Local high school directors nominate the best of their students to practice and perform with the band, providing invaluable music experience to the young and old. The band is particularly proud of their community partnership with the public schools by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors to help further their musical interests. The Chesapeake Bay Wind Ensemble is a member of the Association of Concert Bands.
Small Group Performances In addition to solo performances, members of the Band have established independent professional ensembles which are quite popular throughout the community. Additional groups include duets, quartets, brass ensembles, and a woodwind quintet. If you would like more information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
