The Community Concerto Competition is open to all ages and all instruments, all are encouraged to participate for the chance to perform their piece with the Chesapeake Bay Wind Ensemble on our May 3, 2026 concert!
​Selection will happen by an adjudication panel of judges on November 23, 2025.

Rules & Details

  • Open to all ages
  • Registration must be completed by November 9, 2025
  • Non-Refundable Registration Fee must be paid no later than November 9, 2025
    • If mailing a check, it must be postmarked no later than November 9, 2025
  • Participants must have an accompanist
  • Participants must arrange their own accompanist
  • Participants must provide one published copy of their selection, as well as three copies for the judges. The music will be given back to participants after they compete

Repetoire

Participants should select either one movement of a concerto or a similar concert solo piece, with no more than standard wind ensemble instrumentation.
Examples include:
'Concertino for Flute' by C. Chaminade
'Carmen Fantasie' by P. Sarasate
'The Bride of the Waves' by H.L. Clarke
'Mojave' by M. Torke
Movement I of 'Bassoon Concerto in F Major' by C.M. von Weber
Movement III of 'Concerto for Bass Tuba' by R. Vaughn Williams
